Village Tour - Part 2, June 10, 2010

Our next stop was Valldemossa, a very pretty but larger village. It is credited with the creation of Majorca tourism in 1838. Valldemossa is where the composer Fredric Chopin and his lover George Sand lived while carrying on their affair away from the gossip of Paris. Chopin also hoped the climate would help ease his TB. It did not work out and Sand took her anger out on Valldemossa by writing a sptieful book called "Winter in Majorca". Unlike Sand, we loved Valldemossa and really enjoyed walking around the old town streets and having lunch along the retail promenade.
